WHAT’S SO IMPORTANT ABOUT WEAVE POLE STAKING?
No one wants to see their dog move a whole set around while trying to weave. Staking is the solution for outdoor venues like grass or dirt. For indoors or places you can’t stake, WAY TO WEAVE users can keep sets stable by using the longer versions of our unique Connector-Weights.
WHY DOES WAY TO WEAVE OFFER OPTIONS FOR SETS WITH VARIOUS STAKE HOLE CONFIGURATIONS?
We recognize that our customers have different uses for weave poles, and different environments in which to use them. If you don’t need to stake your weave poles, why should you order sets with stake holes?
HOW MUCH DO STAKE HOLES COST?
About $3 per hole for machining, so you can save some money by not purchasing stake holes that will not be used.
WHO NEEDS STAKE HOLES?
If your weave poles are going to be used where they CAN be staked, you’ll probably want stake holes. If they’re intended for official trials, we advise you to order stake holes in every leg. [Exception: NADAC regulations disallow the staking of weave poles.]
For venues where weave poles CAN’T be staked, you’re better off with plain legs, no stake holes.
If your set will be used in BOTH environments, then having at least a few stake holes is a good idea.
HOW MANY STAKE HOLES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR DAY-TO-DAY, NON-TRIAL USE?
WAY TO WEAVE sets do well with minimal staking. Using stakes at pole #1 and pole #12 will keep the full set stationary in most conditions. Additional stakes at other locations will add even more stability. For 2x2 training outdoors, you’ll probably want at least (3) 2-pole units to have stake holes in both legs.
The fewer stake holes you use, the easier it is to move a set of weaves from place to place.
WAY TO WEAVE stake holes are counterbored, which means that the top of the stake is the same height as the top of the leg. There isn’t a safer design available!
We recommend SPAX Powerlag screws and a Torx bit, both of which are available on our website. Add your power driver, and you have an easy and secure combination. Our stake holes are made to fit SPAX Powerlags perfectly!
For multi-environment use, you can’t do better than WAY TO WEAVE. Our sets include stake hole plugs (flexible plastic) to make them safe for your dogs. You can use the plugs indoors and simply pop them out for staking outdoors.
