Weave pole training should be easy for the handler and safe for the dog!

Weaving is the hardest agility skill to learn. Proper training depends on having the proper equipment.

Many dogs learn to weave quickly with 2x2 sets. Some do well by seeing the whole picture laid out in front of them: a channel set of 4 or 6 … finally 12 poles. And all dogs eventually need to practice on a full, regulation set. Do you have to get 3 different sets to help your dogs learn and perfect their weaving skills? Not with our sets!

Our Channel weaves aren’t just for channel method training. They’re also made for 2x2 training and can be used as regulation sets. We provide it all. And not in some flimsy, incorrect way, but with high quality, safe, strong and durable equipment. Weave poles that won’t confuse your dogs as they progress.

For my second agility dog, I searched for good weave poles, but I couldn’t find any that did what I needed. Sure, I could get by with stick-in-the-ground poles for 2x2, but setting up a full set that way was time consuming and not the correct feel for my pup. Manufactured 2x2s looked unstable, with inconsistent tails, and no good way to connect a set. The channels I saw were even worse. Some had legs opposite where they’re supposed to be; some had 2 parallel bases; others used a snaky, accordion arrangement that makes the base look really weird.

The worst things I saw were channel sets with holes or slots in the legs or base. Or hardware sticking up right in the dog’s path. I shuddered at the thought of my pup running fast and getting a foot caught in one of those traps. I kept wondering, how could an infinitely adjustable pole support be solid and safe for dogs? The cantilever idea came to me in a dream! I started designing the next day, and now our Channels have several patents!

Since 2007, I’ve been hooked on manufacturing a safe and solid set of Channels that could also be used for 2x2 training, and as a regulation set. My design team has helped refine several generations, and now we can say we’ve created a great product. We’re still talking about how to make it even more perfect, but we feel proud of how well we’ve already achieved our goals. I hope you and your dogs enjoy our Channel weaves!"
